I. 2009 Annual Review
1. 2009 Key Verse
My Key verse for 2009 was Mark 9:29, ¡°He replied, ¡®This kind can come out only by prayer.¡¯¡± The University of Zimbabwe had been closed because of a strained national economy. Our sheep felt hopeless and did not know what to do. So we began 5am morning prayer meetings, and we prayed for our nation and our university to gain stability. In January 2009, Zimbabwe adopted the US dollar as an official currency, and we could again find basic commodities in stores. Campus also re-opened in August, and new students came to us. And our Sunday attendance grew from 30 to 40.
2. Bible Study
The most difficult thing in my missionary life during my 14 years in Zimbabwe has been preparing the Sunday service message. But when I visited Korea in August, I asked for help from Paul Lee. Paul understood my problems and we began to study the Bible and work on my message every Wednesday via internet video chatting. He helped me understand the text more deeply and focus the message around one clear point. I became able to understand the flow of the text and deliver it with confidence. I thank God for restoring the joy of preparing and delivering the Sunday message to me.
3. One-to-One and Sheep Invitation
When the University of Zimbabwe opened in August, we invited students to our Saturday Group Bible Study. We prepared food and the word of God, and our missionaries and shepherds led GBS. This helped us serve 10-20 new people every Saturday, and many also came the next day to Sunday service as well. Now we have 10 brothers and 4 sisters living in common-life. They are growing and invite other students to one-to-one Bible study.
4. Bible School
While the campus was closed, we held our Easter Bible Conference. We also had a Bible School from Oct 30-Nov 1. We had no tap water, but women missionaries brought water and prepared food, which was a great blessing to our conference. This Bible school helped us begin good relationships with new students.
5. Co-Working and Second-Generations
Women missionaries have Bible study every Wednesday with Msn Petra. Every Wednesday, missionaries and shepherds have Bible study and meet with James Lee. Tango, Arch, and Msn Caleb are praying and studying the word of God together. We are thankful for them working together. It is great blessing to co-work with Arch. He is a lecturer at UZ. When Msn James was gone, Arch served our morning prayer meetings. He took care of the center by cutting its grass and cleaning it. He wants to go to Germany and study for a PhD and become professor shepherd.
Msn Caleb has offered his cottage as a common-life house for our women, and they are growing as mothers of prayer. Msn Susanna Yoon works hard by serving food.
Tinaog serves his fellowship faithfully. His fellowship is always has many new people. His wife is pregnant and they are praying to have a son. Hungwe has not been able to attend Sunday service regularly since he stays far from the center. Oliver is pioneering Watershed Collage, and Garikai and Chamo are lecturers at the university and are also praying to study for a PhD.
Msn Caleb¡¯s family serves CBF after Sunday service and JBF on Saturday for Bible study.
6. Special Thanksgiving Topics
Jane was admitted to Handong University in Korea. We prayed a lot and God answered our prayer by leading her to a Christian University. At the beginning of August, Nahyung had a high temperature (39¡ÆC) for about 10 days, so she was admitted to the hospital. Doctors could not figure out what caused this, but through prayer and the doctor¡¯s help, she could recover her health. I really thank God for giving her good health.
II. 2010 Vision and Strategy
1. 2010 Key Verse and Prayer Topics
My 2010 New Year¡¯s key verse is John 15:7, ¡°If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.¡± I hold to this verse to remain in Jesus¡¯ words and bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit. I pray to raise disciples and house churches among our leaders by remaining in Jesus and the word of God.
2. Bible School and Conference
We will continue Saturday GBS, and we pray to have Easter conference in April and hold another conference in September.
3. 2010 One-to-One and Ministry Doubling
We pray to raise our 14 common-life members into one-to-one Bible teachers. We pray to imprint the word of God in our hearts by memorizing Bible verses at the morning prayer meeting and for our fellowship leaders to be disciples of Jesus.
4. Special Prayer Topics
To have early morning prayer and recite the word of God.
To raise house churches.
For our 8 upcoming graduates to find jobs.
That Peter and Young-Ho will meet Jesus personally.
That Hun-Ho may enter college in 2011.
