Zimbabwe Volunteer Medical Service Report

Greetings in the Lord!

Thank God for blessing our last directors¡¯ conference with the words of God. I especially thank God that we could receive the words of God through Dr. John Jun and through him, learn his faithfulness and enthusiasm.

I want to briefly share about the medical service we participated in. From Feb. 12-15, 2010, a volunteer medical service team from Somang Church of Korea provided service in the rural area of the capital city of Harare in Zimbabwe. Among us, 4 sisters and 1 brother (Lovemore, a medical student) participated in these activities together with the national food organization for the hungry. Our brother and sisters helped the doctors to provide treatment by interpreting the Shona language into English. This medical team could provide treatments, medicine, and supplies to about 1250 residents who are too poor to get them otherwise. In Zimbabwe, it costs $30 to receive counseling from a physician. Therefore, many poor people are not able to get medical benefits. Through this, our brother and sisters learned a lot about how to serve others through co-working with other organizations. I really thank God for granting us a good opportunity to participate in these volunteer medical service activities.

We are also serving new sheep through our Saturday Bible study every week and I pray that God may bless Archford to serve this Bible study wholeheartedly.

Thanks,
In Christ,
M. James Lee
