On October 29, Chicago CBF held a Hallelujah Light Festival celebrating the light of Jesus, in place of the darkness and death of Halloween. It included a message given by Anthony Llereza on Galatians 5:22,23 about the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Paul Albright presided over the festival, and Yvonne Timlin opened it with prayer. At the end of the festival, Mother Barry prayed.
Many children dressed up as Bible characters. Two of the top costumes were those of Judah Stasinos as King David, and Jessica Mun as the prophet Elisha—including a dark beard. There were many other costumes as well, resembling Moses, Mary, shepherds, and angels. The kids had a lot of fun playing games and winning prizes.
The most popular activity was a fishing game. When the kids won, they got a live fish. They also played a ball-in-bucket game, did jumping jacks, and spun a wheel labeled with the fruit of the Spirit. Parents contributed candy as prizes.
About 120 children came, along with their parents. This was all made possible by the prayer of many of God¡¯s servants, especially those of BBF teachers Sarah Yu and Michelle Li. Many HBF and UIC students and co-workers volunteered to serve this event. They all demonstrated unity as they served CBF kids together. Thank and praise God for such beautiful people of God!
Hallelujah Light Festival Prayer:
May God raise our CBF children to come to Jesus, the light of the world, and show his light to the rest of the world.
