Sh. Aleksey's Testimony, Irkutsk
So be earnest, and repent

Key verse Revelation 3:19

"Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent"

My name is Aleksey. I am 31. I am a yakut. Yakuts are the people living in the north part of Russia, in Siberia, with total number approximately 450 thousand people. These people have their own state as the Sakha Republic which is a federal subject of Russia. The territory of the republic is as big as one of India, it is the largest sub national governing body by area in the world. The coldest populated place of a Planet is located here in Yakutia, in the village Oymiakon (-72 ¡ÆC).

I studied in the Irkutsk State Economic Academy in 1999. After graduation I went back home to work. As a student I learned the gospel truth through msn. Moses and Sarah. The way to Christ appeared to be very long and difficult for me. I came and left, doubted and repented. It is because of msn. Moses and Sarah, sh. Andrew, Ella, Sasha and Liuda that I became a Christian, thanks to their love, prayer and patience.

The biggest struggle for me is to preach the gospel, to speak and teach others about Christ, when people don't want to listen, or to find people who want to listen. I was and still am a weak Christian. Probably I can resist some of Satan's temptations, I can pray and read the Bible but it is not enough. I feel it first of all because of my despair, though everything seems to be good. Once God gave me a person who wanted to hear about God but I could not persuade him to accept Christ.

Currently I am living in Yakutsk town since May 2007, I work in the Republic Agriculture Ministry as a chief of economic programs department. This job is good but I don't like it. I live in the dormitory. Yakutsk town is populated mainly by Yakuts and Russians. The students are mainly Yakuts from regions. They almost never heard the word of God. Yakutsk is the capital of the Republic Sakha (also known as Yakutia). There are Yakutsk State University, Yakutsk State Agricultural Academy, Yakutsk Medical University, Yakutsk State Engineering Institute, Arctic State Institute of Culture and Arts, departments of other universities. The population of Yakutskis near 300 thousand people, it is the biggest city of the republic.

I estimate my spiritual condition through the words of Revelation 3 verses 14-19, "the Angel spoke to Laodicea church, which thought that they were rich and were lukewarm toward God." In the same way I became a man who considered himself having the right relationship with God. I wanted to receive salvation but I didn't want to serve God with a burning heart. I can justify myself only with one thing: I don't want to stop here. I have a desire to become a strong servant of God. I understand that my life without Jesus is impossible.

For me my coming to Irkutsk to the Christmas Worship Service was a little miracle. The fact that I obtained vacation, free schedule of studies, the availability of the tickets. I feel that God led me and he wants me to repent and serve him more earnest. I decided to pray, read the Bible and prepare short messages every Sunday at 10 am when it is 11 am in Irkutsk and the SWS starts. It is hard for me to keep it. Please pray for me be earnest servant of God and have a repenting heart.

For me visiting my home church conferences in Irkutsk is the sparkle of light in a dark place. I feel that all your prayers support and strengthen me. I strongly believe that Irkutsk Christmas Worship Service gives me spiritual growth and good shepherd heart. I thank God for his mercy and patience.

One word: BE EARNEST

Prayer topics:

1. Faithful Sunday Worship Service at 10 am
2. To be an earnest servant of God and have repenting heart
3. To establish a house church
