Indonesia UBF had a united summer conference during Aug 15-18. A total of 142 people from Cawang (11), Salemba (16) and Depok (93) along with CBF (22) joined this conference.
First, the conference was full of the word of God.
Thank God who raised ten messengers who had an abundance of the word of God. The opening message, "I Will Give You Rest" was by Sh. Kefas. The message title of the first night was "God's Burning Love" by Sh. Zakaria based on Hosea and Luke 15. After that, those who would be established as shepherds shared their life testimonies. This opened the hearts of new attendants.
The second day morning message was titled, "Put Out into Deep Water"; it was given by Sh. Sudarman. We could see God's hope for ordinary people, who want to live by shallow water with common sense, to experience the deep spiritual world, the world of God and use us as fishers of men. The first main message was from Mark 5, "Jesus Restores" by Sh. Donald. He testified in tears about Jesus' love for sinners like him who lived like the one Gerasene demoniac. The message during the second night was titled, "Neither Do I Condemn You" by Sh. Ari of Cawang center.
The third day morning devotion message was, "Jesus Came to Seek and Save the Lost" by Sh. Andi. The evening message was, "Be Led by the Holy Spirit!" based on Galatians 5 by M. Moses Lim. The main message on the last day was, "Have Faith in God!' based on Mark 11 by Sh. Iman. He challenged us to have faith in God overcoming many mountains in life--study, job, future security and marriage throwing mountains into the sea. The closing message was "Therefore, Go!" (Mt 28:16-18) by Sh. Abraham Jones.
He testified about Jesus who is with those who obey his world mission command regardless of their nation, fellowship and person. He said that now is the time for Indonesia to be raised as a missionary-sending nation and the power station for Muslim pioneering. He prayed for Indonesia to be a source of blessing for Southeast Asian nations.
When I look back on the conference, for three nights and four days God granted us the proper word of God for our ministries, comforted our tired souls and restored our spirit. When we were leaving for the conference, we felt burdened, but during the conference, God poured out in our hearts joy and life. All agreed that this conference was the best conference among many conferences in the past.
Second, God raised 14 disciples of Jesus (Depok-11, Cawang-1, Salemba-2).
In preparation for the conference, six months before the conference, we established a discipleship Bible school and 14 shepherds were baptized as disciples of Jesus after completing 8 lectures of Bible study with testimony and 1 & 2 Samuel factual study. They were all shepherds and shepherdess who had been in UBF the last four years. We pray that they may be faithful disciples of Jesus through denying themselves, carrying their own cross and following Jesus as fishers of men. When they decided to give their lives fully to God, the conference was filled by God's glory.
Third, God sent new missionaries through this conference.
Since 1999, there had not been any new missionary who came to Indonesia, but through this conference God sent two new missionaries. Missionary J.J. Kim (General Joshua Kim) from Sejong Center in Korea and Missionary Tommy Pham from Washington in USA were sent by God. Through their life testimonies on the third day of the conference, God renewed our world mission vision. May God use Indonesian students as missionaries to the world. Practically, Shepherdess Arta will go to Qatar as a missionary. We pray that she may receive missionary training with heart and the two new missionaries may overcome the language.
Fourth, God granted good weather and a good place for the conference.
Year round, the weather here is hot without any change and makes men tired easily. But during the conference, God gave us cool weather. So in a good place with good food, all attendants had true rest in God. God also granted much grace through upgraded programs.
We praise and thank God for his overflowing grace and love throughout the conference. God may help us to hold on the word of God we received through this conference and love God with all our hearts and minds.
Please pray for our special lecture, "The True Vine, Jesus¡± from John 15 and 1 & 2 Thessalonians, and for our Mark's gospel Bible study. Please pray for us to build up to 120 1:1 Bible studies and 120 Sunday attendants.
