Chongro, Kwanak3 United Conference News by M. Moses Yoon
(Chongro, Kwanak3, Hwarang and Suwon chapters combined)

¡°The son of Man came to save the lost¡± (Luke 19:10)

Thank God for abundantly blessing our combined summer conference. The title was ¡°Jesus came to save the lost¡±.

The most amazing thing about this conference was how great is was to have a combined conference with Chongro 1, 2, and 7, Kwanak 3, Hwarang, and Suwon UBFs.

When we prepared the conference together, each chapter had different roles and therefore there was more time for inviting students and more time for prayer meetings twice a day. From our prayer meetings God heard and answered our prayers and we experienced the work of the Holy Spirit like fire.

The messengers for the conference stayed in the same place together for three weeks and our senior shepherdesses took turn serving them morning and evening meals. At the meals the worship teams also joined them, so there was around 50 people gathered at the meals. It provided a great atmosphere to prepare the conference.

The conference was held at Youngsan Youth training center. Many said that it was the best conference site ever. New students had no problem and missionaries were greatly comforted by this conference.

The missionaries who joined the conference were Monica Park (Nigeria), Hannah Jung (Tanzania), Rebekah Kim (Zimbawe), Sarah Petra Lee (Canada) and Hannah Cho (Lebanon). During the conference they shed many tears in the grace of God. We thank God for blessing us with overflowing grace to our souls during three nights and four day conference.

Out of total 481 attendants, Chongro I-123 brought ( 40 new students ), Chongro II-137 ( 34 new students ), Chongro VII-45 ( 11), Kwanak III 134 (46 students), Hwarang 21 (7 new students) and Suwon 21 (12 new students) to the conference.

Seven shepherds were selected as messengers. They all fit the passage very well and were all full of the Holy Spirit when they spoke. They stayed together at Chongro UBF to prepare their messages.

The Messengers were:

1. Jungsu Park (Kwanak III)-Luke 19 opening message
2. Cephas Kim (Chongro II)-Genesis 1evening message
3. Junsu Sohn (Chongro I)-John 8
4. Augustine Lee (Chongro VII)-evening lecture II
5. Augustine Cho (Hwarang) –Luke 23 main lecture II
6. Changhoon Kang (Chongro II)-John 21 evening lecture III
7. Bumsu Kim (Chongro I)-Mark 13 main lecture III

They all delivered beautiful messages even with many tears. More than anything the newcomers and all the audience were moved by the messengers hearts that were moved by the word of God.

The first night, five people shared their life testimonies which had even more of a affect than the messengers. Their precious testimonies about God¡¯s grace that clearly changed their life challenged all the newcomers.

Two twin sisters, Heakyung Ju and Hyesun Ju were especially moved and received God¡¯s grace through hearing the life testimonies. The older twin sister Haekyung shed beautiful tears during the testimonies. They were both born handicapped with sight and hearing disabilities. Their lives were dark and sad and they both attempted suicide before. But their lives were changed since they met their Bible teachers and received the word of God from John 9:3 in their hearts. They were also moved at last year¡¯s conference where they saw musical drama of Dr. Kang Young Woo and accepted God¡¯s good purpose upon their lives.

There was a special program just for freshman where 20 new freshman joined. In this program Chongro prepared drama and Kwanak prepared dancing.

The second night, Dr. Augustine Seo a popular praise leader in our ministry led a chorus. It was Dr. Seo¡¯s last time to lead praise because he is going to USA as a missionary soon.

On the third night there was a play titled, ¡°When Sinners are Called¡± that revealed Jesus¡¯ forgiveness of sins and love on the cross so wonderfully.

In summary, there were more people and offerings than ever before because so many people received so much grace. We pray and plan to have student meetings and new student testimony sharing to raise disciples of Jesus for the glory of God. May God answer our prayers which we offered and bless the Purdue International conference.
