Canadian Director's Meeting News

We thank God for blessing the Canadian directors' meeting last Saturday (April 26, 2008) in Vancouver, which was held on the Simon Fraser University campus. Since last year, our Canadian directors began to gather to study the Bible together as well as to discuss important issues in serving the Canadian campuses pioneering work. Presently, we are continuing on the 1 Kings studies. Thus far, the chapters in Ontario and Quebec gathered. Therefore, this meeting in Vancouver was a meaningful gathering in the Canadian ministry because all the directors participated and we could form a vessel and spirit of unity across the country. Most of all, the western Canadian chapters, namely Vancouver, Victoria, Alberta and Calgary UBFs, participated for the first time.

M. Joshua Lee (Toronto UBF) led the Bible study gracefully on 1 Kings 8-10. We learned about true worship and prayed that we may have God and His word at the center of our hearts and in our ministries. After the Bible study, we discussed several issues about the Summer Bible Conference, missionaries' conference, and other arising issues. One of the major decisions we made was that we may have smaller regional groups for the Bible study. Since Canada is a big country, it is difficult for us to gather together frequently. So, we decided to divide into 5 regional groups—Vancouver & Victoria region, Calgary & Edmonton region, GTA & Hamilton region, Waterloo, London and Guelph region, and Montreal and Ottawa region.

We heard from the western Canadian chapters of their prayer topics and some present concerns of each ministry. We thank God that God is building up the pioneering works of Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary and Alberta UBFs. Vancouver UBF experienced some difficulties when some growing disciples left the ministry after reading slanderous articles on the internet. But some new sheep are coming. M. Anna Kwon will have her Pharmacy exam (clinical) on May 25. M. Hannah Ku has her nursing test on May as well.

We also prayed for the health problem of M. Ruth Jun (Calgary UBF). She removed her thyroid last year and she needs to fully recover her health for her nursing refresher course from September.

M. Joshua Park of Victoria UBF prays that his family may re-enter Canada with permanent resident visa. Most probably, they will come in May.

Alberta UBF has several growing students—Fred, Alexandra, Tom, Liu. M. Noah Jang's family is sacrificial serving students and they are growing. S. David Jang also participated in the meeting and he is growing in spiritual leadership.

After the meeting, we visited the Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia and prayed for the campuses. We thank God for the hospitality of the Vancouver coworkers who hosted the meeting. They are a small house church ministry, however, they served us with a big heart. May God continue to help us to build the coworking vessel among the Canadian chapters and pioneer 252 campuses. May God double the Canadian ministry by the year 2010.

In Christ, Luke Hong
