Canberra UBF has been focusing on Australian National University (ANU) since missionaries Joshua Lee and Hannah Lee had been sent to Canberra in the late 1991. We have prayed for wondering souls in ANU so far, and especially in 2007, we also prayed for campus souls who are not at ANU.
Firstly, we prayed for the following souls in 2007:
While M Hannah Lee was doing her medical course overseas, she met several students who had spiritual desires: Ritah (US citizen), Roxanah (US citizen), Acash (Indian) and Qynh (Vietnamese-US citizen). These are all medical students in the Winsor University. While studying in the university, M Hannah Lee made a music band and these four students were among the members. Ritah became a good friend of M Hannah Lee as they were in similar ages, and had many situations in common. When Ritah stayed in USA for her clinical courses, she got a traffic accident one day, but God saved her life. After this accident, we sent a small material support and our heart to her, which made a stronger relationship with her. Roxana finished her PhD course but started her medical course. She had spiritual desire and participated in the US Eastern Middle Atlanta region summer conference with M Hannah. She was friendly and open-minded, and enjoyed with people and God¡¯s words. Acash followed M Hannah well and she insisted in staying with her in the same accommodation while studying medical course. As roommates, they shared many things together including culture and foods, as well as spiritual world of God. Qynh was a beautiful member of the music band and she sent her beautiful photo printed in the Christmas card to Australia as her father was a professional photographer. We pray for these souls that God may bless them, save them and use them for the kingdom of God.
Seegin (Korean-Canadian) was a medical student in the University College Dublin, Ireland when she met M Hannah Lee who was also studying in UCD for a while some years ago. She studied Genesis and attended Sunday Worship services consistently at Dublin UBF, Ireland. Now she is working as a medical doctor in Ireland, and wishes to come to Australia someday for her spiritual direction as well as settlement for life. So far, she has been talking with M Hannah Lee by international phone calls for one to three hours every weekend, sharing God¡¯s grace upon their lives, sometimes sharing their hardships they have suffered. We don¡¯t know where God will lead her life in the future, but we are praying that God may bless her medical career and in God¡¯s time may use her preciously. We wish that if she comes to Australia she can come as a missionary after some formal training in Chicago, but we are not sure that this is suitable for her, as her faith in God¡¯s calling her to UBF seems to be not strong enough yet, though she has a spiritual desire for God¡¯s ministry. In any way, we are praying for her spiritual blessing as well as her career, whether she stays in Ireland, in Canada, in US or in Australia.
Secondly, we are praying for 1 Abraham at the ANU. M Joshua Lee is studying part time at the ANU law school. The law study is extremely hard because it requires enormous reading time and M Joshua Lee is working full time and in most of time working in the evening as well. But God has helped him to pass most subjects. He considered giving up law studies seriously almost every week, but made resolutions to keep doing the study for the ANU ministry. God helps him, who is very shy to contact students, to contact students while studying in campus. We pray that God will use his studies as two fish and five loaves for wondering campus souls.
M Hannah Lee has already passed US medical doctor¡¯s licence test step one which is required to do her clinical years in US, but now she is trying to do it in Australia. For this she is preparing for a test required by ANU. The test is very hard for non-English background students. It is her personal faith on God that made her keep praying for this transfer without giving it up until now. We pray that God may bless her faith and grant her a place to finish her clinical course in Australia, to expand his kingdom in this country.
Our hope for Canberra UBF at the moment is the second generation Hannah Lee Jr, who is in year 11 and preparing for university entrance. She has served every Sunday Worship services as a presider and offering prayer, and played piano and flutes for hymns. We pray that God will grow the seed of the Gospel planted in her and produce many fruits through out her life, especially for ANU campus students.
We believe that as he has done so far, God will also work with us in 2008. We don¡¯t know how God will lead us, but we wish to live by faith to make God¡¯s name be hallowed and to expand God¡¯s kingdom in this country, particularly at the ANU.
