Stanford Univ. Pioneering Testimony and Prayer Topics by M. Andrew Hwang
THE GOSPEL MUST FIRST BE PREACHED TO ALL NATIONS

Key verse: Mark 13: 10 ¡°And the gospel must first be preached to all nations.¡±

Praise God for saving me by the gospel! I give praise to God for calling me for the gospel! Thank God for calling me as a servant of the gospel!

First, God saved me from my sins by the gospel.

Hello! My name is Andrew Hwang, and my Lord¡¯s name is Jesus Christ. I was born in 1968 in South Korea. From childhood, my dream was to be a great man. I loved to read books about great men. I entered a medical school according to my parents¡¯ will. I became a student activist to fight against a dictator. I shouted on the street, ¡°Change! Revolution!¡± So many students followed me as their leader. I thought I was cool and I felt great. But, it was not the system that needed to be changed; rather it was I. My heart was polluted by sins such as lust and a hot temper. Sin was a dictator in my heart. Sin controlled my heart everyday. I could not overcome the sinful desires in me. I became a heavy drinker and a street fighter. However, my Christian mother was praying for me to be saved for a long time.

By his grace God invited me to Romans one-to-one Bible study. Through this Romans Bible study, I accepted the gospel. I repented all of my sins with tears. Then, God cleansed away all my sins. Then, heavenly peace came into my heart. The gospel changed my life. My fellow students were astonished that a tiger could become a sheep. My life with Jesus was life of joy. The gospel saved me from my sins.

Second, God called me for the gospel.

I was so happy to bring my friends to Jesus. As a shepherd, I could enjoy heavenly joy. God used me as a campus shepherd to save students from their sins. Also, he poured out his vision in my heart through Mark 13:10 ¡°And the gospel must first be preached to all nations.¡± This was Jesus¡¯ command to me for world mission. My heart was filled with the fire of passion for the world mission. Nothing could quench this fire in me. I drew a big world map and wrote down the prayer topics for each nation. I was ready to give up everything for the world mission. Then, God blessed me to establish a house church with Missionary Anna Hwang.

In 2000, God brought me to America as a missionary. But, I did not have a compassionate heart for American students. They looked fine outwardly. I prayed to God, ¡°Please give tears to pray for American students.¡± Then, God opened my eyes to shed tears for them. They were suffering from their sins. God helped me to feed 12 Northwestern U. students with the gospel. One of them was Tom Cook who was an NU medical student. He said, ¡°I am so happy to study the Bible with you. Please pray for my sister. She goes to Stanford U. She lives a sinful life. But, nobody takes care of her.¡± Since then I began to pray to pioneer Stanford U.

I have prayed for pioneering Stanford U for the last 5 years. I have applied for jobs at Stanford U. more than 20 times. This April, I interviewed for a job with Stanford U. Though the interview was very successful they did not offer me a job. But, God encouraged me through his word, Romans 15:20 ¡°It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else's foundation.¡± Finally, God answered my prayer for SU on Nov 29 2007. I had a 5-minute phone interview with Stanford. I said, ¡°I am the best. I can do everything.¡± Then, the hiring manager believed this. After two hours, they offered me a job at Stanford U. Medical Center. There are so many Stanford U students who never heard the gospel. May God help my family to raise many disciples at SU to preach the gospel to all nations! May God bless SU students to stand for the Lord through the gospel!

One Word: Stanford! Stand for the Lord! Prayer Topics 1. To serve SU with manger spirit, one to one Bible study and testimony writing 2. To focus on disciple-making ministry; to raise 4 spiritual leaders for this generation like Peter, James, John and Paul 3. To have family prayer meeting every day
